by William Butler Yeats
I whispered, ‘I am too young,’
And then, ‘I am old enough’;
Wherefore I threw a penny
To find out if I might love.
‘Go and love, go and love, young man,
If the lady be young and fair.’
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
I am looped in the loops of her hair.
O love is the crooked thing,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in it,
For he would be thinking of love
Till the stars had run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
One cannot begin it too soon.
Classic Yeats!
Hi, Ian, I hope you aren’t flooded. If I’m wrong about the state you live in blame it on my bad geographical knowledge. Love, Steph xx
No we have chosen our locations well in the last house and now this one in the retirement resort. We love it here. So many services and conveniences in the suburban village. We are near the university of the Sunshine Coast so naturally they pull out all stops to keep us safe and happy. What has happened from the tip of Australia down into NSW is unprecedented. There are towns that still do not have electricity, and so many people have lost homes and livlihood. Glad you are back supplying us with intellectual enjoyment again. Your site is always worth visiting.

I love WB Yeats, one of my favorite authors. And these lines are sublime:
Till the stars had run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
Thank you for sharing, many blessings and much love to you
